PROMOTING SAFE AND STABLE FAMILIES GRANT
SCHOOL CHILDREN’S ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma has received limited funding through a Promoting Safe and Stable Families Grant from the State of Oklahoma. The grant will be administered through the tribe’s Indian Child Welfare office. These funds will allow us to provide winter coats, school supplies, shoes and clothes for school and to defray some of the costs of the Week of the Young Child activities.

The funding agency has several requirements to be met in distributing these funds:

  1. The child must be an enrolled member of the Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma.
  2. The child must reside within 100 miles of the tribal headquarters and within the State of Oklahoma.
  3. The child must be enrolled in school between the grades of Kindergarten-12.
  4. Verification of school enrollment must be provided as proof of eligibility (must be letter from school on school letterhead or current grade card).
  5. A copy of child’s tribal membership card must be provided.

Receipts equal to the voucher value must be returned to the tribal headquarters. Failure to provide receipts will make the child ineligible for future voucher distribution.

Strict compliance with the above regulations is required by the funding agency for the tribe to be considered for future grant approval.
